This evening, a federal district court ordered the Trump Administration to fully reinstate the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. DACA is a program created by the Obama Administration that provides certain protections and benefits to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as minors. President Trump has been unsuccessfully trying to end the DACA program since 2017. Most recently, his Administration has tried to limit the program to only those seeking to renew the benefit. Per today’s ruling, new applicants who meet the requirements for DACA are eligible to apply.
