This evening, President Trump said during an interview that he is “…going to do a big executive order,” which will include a provision that gives “dreamers” — that is, undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children — a path to citizenship. During the interview, the President made the dubious assertion that he has the authority to do this without an act of Congress.
Shortly after the interview aired, a spokesperson for the White House said that the executive order “…does not include amnesty.” No further clarification or specifics were provided.
